About Me
Pilates Foundation teachers are passionate about providing the
highest standard of training and practice of Pilates
I spent many years working in an office slumped at a desk, ruining my posture. When I started attending Pilates classes I was amazed by how much stronger I started to feel. I loved it because it occupied my mind as well as my body; it relaxed me and simply made so much sense. Having tried many forms of exercise over the years I knew it was the one I would love and practise for life. I started my training to become a Matwork teacher within a year. I am now in my sixth year of teaching Matwork and last year completed further training with STOTT PILATES using the key piece of Pilates apparatus called a Reformer (see more information Matwork/Reformer page).
I am constantly surprised by how much Pilates has changed my body, I move more freely than ever, my posture has improved considerably, my aches and pains are kept at bay and I feel calmer and more relaxed. The fact that I can see and feel the difference Pilates has made to me, inspires me and gives me a true passion for teaching. I take a great deal of pleasure in building a great rapport with my clients and helping them to feel the benefits too. My clients range from the very fit, to those effected by pain and restricted movement and from age 8 to 80. I tailor my teaching to meet their needs with sensitivity and consideration. It is extremely satisfying to see the progress clients make and to feel that I make a difference to their quality of life.
I am a member of the Pilates Foundation with whom I did my Matwork training. www.pilatesfoundation.com The Foundation is a not-for-profit professional Pilates teacher training organisation, run by teachers for teachers, who are passionate about providing the highest standard of training and practice of Pilates. The Foundation provides one of the most rigorous and in-depth teacher training courses available. The Matwork training lasts for 14 months and includes over 500 hours of practical study and applied anatomy and physiology workshops. I passed my practical and theory exams with an overall mark of 90%.
Membership of the Foundation requires compliance with a Continuing Personal Development Scheme. This ensures a minimum of 24 training and study hours per year. Membership also means that I am bound by the Foundation’s Code of Conduct, Ethics and training standards.
The Foundation has recently become the only Pilates organisation to have its members listed on the NHS Directory of Complementary and Alternative Practitioners. You will find my registration at www.nhsdirectory.org.uk
